The story takes place many years ago when a war between the two angels and demons occurred. At this time, a dome was created to protect Tokyo from the battle. Years later, the interior of the dome became increasingly depleted and people were gradually dominated by angels and demons. Nanashi is an elite demon hunter but on a hunting trip that was killed, after going to hell he received an offer to become Dagda’s minions, in exchange for he will continue to live. Dagda ordered Nanashi to free Krishna from the prison and form an alliance against both the angels and the demons. As Nanashi from a third perspective, you will explore post-apocalyptic Tokyo, where you will receive missions and fight with many different enemies. In turn-based battles, Nanashi can also summon three more demons to assist in the fight. The in-game combat system focuses on using elemental and exploiting weaknesses when a character in the team makes a critical attack, the team will have one more turn. Otherwise if creating an attack is missed or blocked then your team will take a turn.
The story of Shin Megami Tensei IV: Apocalypse focuses on a Hunter cadet protagonist who gets killed by one of the demons treating post-apocalyptic Tokyo as their personal playground. However, the mysterious god Dagda resurrects the protagonist in exchange for his fealty and sets him on a perilous path that treads a fine line between peace and anarchy. Is Dagda simply an opportunistic lesser god or is he part of something much bigger?
